- Nastran FEA proficiency -- manual bulk data entry experience preferred
- Familiar with NASA STD 5001, 5019, 5020 and/or SSP 30559
- Strong classical hand analysis fundamentals (Bruhn, Niu, or equivalent)
- Ability to work independently and manage your own deliverable schedule
- BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (MS a plus)
- NASGRO or other fracture mechanics tooling experience
- Python scripting for analysis automation
- Composite structures analysis background
- Previous 1099 or consulting experience
We are looking for a loads and dynamics engineer with 3+ years of spaceflight hardware experience to support vehicle-level FEM development, loads derivation, and dynamic analysis. You will cover the full front-end dynamics stack -- load environment definition through test plan handoff at CDR.
- Develop and maintain vehicle-level and component FEMs in Nastran (manual bulk data)
- Perform flow-down loads derivation and interface loads analysis
- Conduct modal, frequency, random, and transient response analysis
- Execute HCB reduction and Craig-Bampton substructuring for coupled loads analysis
- Apply force limiting and notching per NASA RP 1403
- Develop modal pretest analysis and vibration test spectra
- Produce and maintain loads databooks across multiple program iterations
- 3+ years loads and dynamics experience on aerospace or spaceflight programs
- Strong Nastran FEM -- bulk data, large model management, DMAP familiarity a plus
- Familiar with NASA STD 5002, MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-016, and NASA RP 1403
- Experience with reduced-order modeling (HCB, Craig-Bampton, or equivalent)
- Ability to work independently on complex multi-discipline programs
- BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (MS preferred)
- Python or MATLAB scripting for Nastran automation
- SQL database experience for load magnitude tracking
- GVT support or modal test correlation experience
- Launch vehicle or spacecraft primary structure program experience
Gravissist is looking for a project engineer with aerospace program experience to coordinate and execute engineering activities across client engagements. This is a technical coordination role -- managing deliverable schedules, running trade studies, interfacing with client teams, and ensuring analysis efforts stay aligned with program gates and budget.
- Own technical scheduling and deliverable tracking across client programs
- Coordinate cross-disciplinary trade studies (structural, loads, thermal, mechanisms)
- Interface directly with client engineering and program management teams
- Ensure analysis scope, budget, and schedule stay aligned through CDR
- Support development and maintenance of engineering process documentation
- Mentor junior contributors on technical standards and program workflows
- 3+ years of aerospace program or project engineering experience
- Strong technical background in structural or mechanical engineering
- Experience managing deliverables through PDR and/or CDR gates
- Clear written and verbal communicator -- comfortable in client-facing roles
- Familiarity with NASA program milestones, review gate structure, and standards
- BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering
- Background in structural analysis -- able to review technical work independently
- Experience on early-stage startup programs (seed to Series B)
- Familiarity with configuration management (GIT or equivalent)
- PMP or equivalent certification
We are looking for an experienced aerospace engineer to support general consulting tasks -- technical writing, independent analysis reviews, document comparisons, and hardware assessment work. Flexible scope, well-suited to someone with broad aerospace experience who wants project-based engagement without carrying a full analysis workload.
- Write and review structural analysis documentation for aerospace programs
- Perform independent peer reviews of analysis packages prior to CDR delivery
- Conduct document comparison studies for hardware re-certification or COTS assessments
- Support technical writing for SOWs, test plans, and engineering reports
- Assess COTS and recently acquired flight hardware for structural compliance
- 3+ years of aerospace engineering experience -- structural or mechanical background preferred
- Strong technical writing ability -- clear, standards-compliant documentation
- Familiarity with NASA STD, MIL-STD, or SSP standards
- Independent worker comfortable delivering on defined scope without daily oversight
- BS in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline
- Background in structural analysis or FEA -- independent technical judgement a strong plus
- Previous consulting or 1099 engagement experience
- Hardware certification and qualification process familiarity
All roles start as 1099 independent contractor engagements -- project-based, remote, and scoped to active client work. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience; we will discuss rate expectations during the screening call. Full-time W-2 employment is on the roadmap as client demand grows. We move quickly -- if there is a fit, expect to hear back within 48 hours.
